Cat fight! Cameron is mad at Romney for musing that London isn’t prepared for the Olympics, says it is not as easy hosting them in a one of the world’s most busy cities as ‘in the middle of nowhere’. Ouch. See Buzzfeed

The Faroese flag “Merkið” (“The mark”), created in 1919 but banned until World War II when the Allied Forces needed to distinguish between sea vessels of British occupied Faroe Islands and Nazi occupied Denmark. Here in use during the 2008 Faroese national youth swimming championships in Vágur, Suðuroy, hometown of Pál Joensen. He’ll swim under Danish flag at the London 2012 Olympics, since the Faroe Islands aren’t recognized by IOC, and even spectators banned from bringing it under IOC rules.

“The following is a non-exhaustive list of restricted items which may not be taken into a Venue … flags of countries not participating in the Games”. Source

Sheesh, the thanks you get for having 1/3 of your fleet sunk by mines, subs and planes while bringing them food. Grudge aside, he will be okay ;-)

Breaking news on aftonbladet.se via simma.nu/se, at a press conference today it was confirmed that Therese Alshammar suffers from a pinched nerve in her neck, which ultimately could mean that she will miss the Olympics. These last days of camp she has found it difficult to rotate in swimming, an MRI-scan confirming that she has a pinched nerve. They are of course doing what they can, her big race is next Friday, so now it is one day at a time with physiotherapy and medication. See also svt.se, the power of her stroke is affected, an expert says that if she cannot swim in the relay, their medal chances are gone, another expert talking about her ‘Olympic curse’, having never won Olympic gold after silver medals in Sydney, a medal lost the last few meters in Athens and then a burst suit in Beijing.

    Read Caps & Goggles:

This is all plenty scandalous and distasteful, but that’s not the worst of it. Here’s the part to make you gag: EVERYONE ALREADY KNEW. The worst part about this breaking news is that it’s not news at all – not to the swimmers and coaches and parents who grew up swimming in this area. This has been an open secret for ages. That headline above? That’s a line from an email sent from one former swimmer to another, who both swam in Northern Virginia in the late 80′s.
