It isn’t every day that an Olympic gold medalist is at Notre Dame. It is even more rare for an Olympic gold medalist to voluntarily journey to South Bend for a swimming clinic. But this was not your average swimming clinic and Tyler McGill is not your average Olympic gold medalist. Read more here on ND Blogs:

Sixty-two year old swimmer Diana Nyad from California has been trying to swim 166 kilometers – or 103 miles – from Cuba to Florida, once in the 70-ies, twice in 2011 and again this year, still not giving up on the goal of swimming that distance. See Voice of America

Spain’s Rafael Muñoz congratulates Serbia’s Milorad ÄŒavić after the men’s 100 butterfly at the Rijeka 2008 European Short Course Swimming Championships. ÄŒavić broke the European record and was very close to the World record, 49.19 to Ian Crocker’s 49.07 from 2004. See result list here
Doub, 24-year-old swimming coach Craig Evans had typed an intimate invitation to his girlfriend asking her if she would like to engage in sex with him ‘skin on skin’, when a slip of the fingers on his BlackBerry smartphone resulted in it going out to ALL the numbers on his phone. As well as having to deal with the humiliation of his family and friends reading the message (/invitation), Evan’s mistake led to far more serious consequences, when his hot message also found its way to two young schoolgirls apparently in his swim class, resulting in him being arrested and charged with causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, and being jailed for 18 months. Sentence later reduced to nine months and then suspended, ‘given the unusual circumstances’ of him inviting everybody he knew for sex.
