Gwangju’s ability to host the 2019 International Aquatics Federation (FINA) World Championships has come into question after the South Korean central Government today revoked its promise of financial support for the event as “punishment” for a forged bid document.

“We define the Gwangju city Government’s forgery of a document guaranteeing the central Government’s financial support as a case in which a municipal Government deceived a state organisation, disrupting the discipline of the state,” a Government official told South Korean news agency Yonhap.

A fisherman has been dragged underwater by a monster tuna that caused his boat to capsize.

Anthony Wichman still managed to hook the monster fish off the island of Kauai in Hawaii.

But when the 54-year-old fisherman brought the enormous 200-pound (90kg) tuna on board, the boat capsized under the weight, and he toppled overboard.

The fisherman nearly drowned when his leg became tangled in the fishing line, dragging him underwater.

  • Scott Miller (AUS) arrested (again) over alleged possession of the drug ice

Former Olympic swimmer Scott Miller is behind bars this morning with the fallen star facing fresh drug supply allegations.

Miller cut a forlorn figure on the video screen of Parramatta Bail Court yesterday as he was told he would remain in custody until at least Wednesday following his weekend arrest.

“I thought it was a possession charge,” Miller told the court in his first moment on screen, before the charge of supplying a prohibited drug was confirmed to him. He told the court his lawyer was away and unable to represent him in court yesterday. […]

Earlier this month in Waverley Local Court, Miller pleaded not guilty to a charge of supply and possession of ice, as well as a count of possessing suspected stolen property.

He was arrested at a home in Botany Bay on June 18, when police allegedly found $1900 on him and a further $14,700 in a car parked outside along with three small, resealable bags of ice. Officers granted him conditional bail, provided the Edgecliff resident reported to police three times a week.
