The Danish Swimming Federation describes in a press release tonight how a record-number of about 2000 swimmers participated in the 2013 Round Christiansborg open water event in Copenhagen today, that first was delayed 2 hours because of worries about the water quality after a sewage overflow caused by a downpour the night before, and then again 20 minutes because of a torrential downpour at the rescheduled 13:00 start. Barcelona 2013 World Championships 800 and 1500 silver winner Lotte Friis won the women’s 2K event with a time of 22:59, and compatriot Anton Ipsen the men’s event in 22:05. Friis and Ipsen also won the following 4×500 meter Krüger Relay, as part of the Sigma Swim Birkerød team, in a time of 23:47.

CC photo #608: Just go straight in, September is free
An interesting experiment in our local community pool here at Toftir, Faroe Islands, this September, where all public swimming will be free of charge. It is only a 16 meter pool, and we are only about 1000 people in the village plus a few thousand in surrounding area, so it would be difficult to make any direct profit anyways. This week was also free, even if we are not in September yet, so that was just bonus-bonus :-)
