“To celebrate Perth, the Swan River and our love for open water swimming — the BHP Billiton Aquatic Super Series will feature a mass participation open water swim in the Swan River on February 2 [2014].
Swim The Swan will see recreational swimmers race over five distances — 500m, 1.25km, 2.5km, 5km and the Olympic Marathon distance of 10km. The course starts and finishes at the Barrack Street Jetty, and hugs the city shoreline as swimmers get the rare opportunity to swim looking up at the Perth skyline.”
Registrations are now open at www.aquaticsuperseries.com.au

‘The European Short Course Championships are in every way a historic event in Denmark. The pools for the Championships are temporary and recycled from the London 2012 Olympics and the 2013 World Championships in Barcelona. After the European Championships, parts of the pools will once again be recycled – this time as an upgrade of the Herning swimming pool with a new 50 meter pool.’

Germantown Academy’s revered swimming coach, Dick Shoulberg, is on leave because of “a personnel issue,” a school administrator said Monday.
In an e-mail to parents last month, the school announced that assistant coach Claire Crippen would serve as acting director and acting head coach of the girls’ team in Shoulberg’s absence. Assistant coach Chris Lear will be acting head coach of the boys’ team, athletic director Jim Fenerty said.
Head of School Jim Connor said he could not comment on Shoulberg’s leave but said he hoped it would be resolved “very soon.”
