A quick Google translation of the Danish intro (and outro)

Friday 7th till Sunday 9th March 2014, the Great Danes will attend the Mon Meet in Marseilles, France, which according to national coach Nick Juba is characterized by a high level and intense competition. Juba emphasizes that France, along with Russia, is one of the strongest swimming nations in Europe at the moment. It will therefore be a challenge for the Danish participants be able to compete. It is important that all the men in the squad prove that they learned something in Antwerp a few weeks ago, which for Nick Juba was a disappointing meet. This time they will have to be brave and give everything they have, whether it is in preliminary heats or finals. The national coach hopes that the men show good form and a focused approach to both race preparation and the actual race performance. And he feels that the Mon Meet is a good place to begin this approach.

Swim For Hope – Press Release

Fifteen swimmers from all walks of life will attempt one of the most extreme open water swimming challenges in South African waters tomorrow, 6 March 2014, in support of the Little Fighters Cancer Trust, a local charity that offers support to children with cancer and their families.  The group, headed up by South African musician Carina Bruwer (from Sterling EQ), will attempt the 8km rounding of Cape Point, stretching from Diaz Beach on the western side of Cape Point with its notoriously turbulent waters, to Buffels Bay on the Eastern side, taking swimmers through the point where the two oceans (Atlantic and Indian) meet.

Scientists have strapped cameras onto free-swimming sharks, capturing a shark’s-eye view of their underwater world.

The footage from 14 tiger sharks, six Galapagos sharks, five sandbar sharks, five bluntnose sixgill sharks and a prickly shark is the first to be taken of sharks, by sharks in their natural environment.

One clip from a camera attached to a male sandbar shark show the pursuit of a female; another shows its wearer’s point of view as it meets up with dozens of other sharks in a mixed group — including sandbars, oceanic blacktips and scalloped hammerheads — and swimming together for most of the day.

Attend a swim team practice at Norwin High School, and it could be any school in any town – until one swimmer exits the pool, and you notice the white cane.

“Some people may be surprised that I swim,” says senior swimmer Hunter McGowan, “but I swim anyhow.”

The surprise comes from the fact that Hunter is both legally blind and legally deaf.
