    A 2-year-old boy has died after being pulled from a backyard swimming pool in Anthem, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. […]

    Emergency responders received a 9-1-1 call around 6 p.m. about a child found unresponsive in a swimming pool. It is estimated the boy’s mother lost track of him for about five minutes, according to Maricopa County Sheriff’s Deputy Joaquin Enriquez.

    The boy’s mother began CPR, and sheriff’s deputies took over until firefighters and paramedics arrived. The child’s two siblings were also home at the time, Enriquez said. […]

    Enriquez said there was no fence around the pool but the house had a security door for the backyard. It was unknown Friday how the boy gained access to the backyard. […]

    Olympian and World Champion swimmer Kate Ziegler visited the Netherlands as part of our Sports Diplomacy Initiative. She led swim clinics for young talented swimmers, discussed women empowerment with NGO leaders and top women athletes. Gave a motivational talk to High School students.

    Recruits of Lima Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, and Papa Company, 4th Recruit Training Battalion, learn about basic water survival Feb. 24, 2014, at the recruit training pool on Parris Island, S.C. Water survival qualification, which is a graduation requirement, includes swimming 25 meters, treading water for four minutes, jumping into water from a 10-foot tower and shedding heavy equipment while underwater. Recruits wear utility uniforms, including boots, throughout the evaluation.

  • Jeanette Ottesen clocks 24.54 and Danish national record tying time in the 50 free

    Jeanette Ottesen rattled her own Danish record in the 50 meter freestyle, when she at the East-Regional Danish Long Course Championships in Ballerup clocked 24.54 seconds, equalling her national record from the Barcelona 2013 World Championships. The Danish Regional Long Course Championships are held in Odense (West) and Ballerup (East) this weekend, as lead-up to the Danish Open 2014 / Berlin 2014 Trials in Bellahøj (Copenhagen), late March.

    Athens Olympic gold medallist Giaan Rooney has carved out a successful, scandal-free career as a swimming commentator and advertising spruiker, while three-time Olympian Nicole Livingstone also has a high-profile media gig with Channel 10.
