Adelaide Aquatic Centre undergoes sustainable upgrade

The Adelaide Aquatic Centre is preparing to undergo improvement works that will provide residents and visitors with a modern and energy efficient place to swim, play and socialise.

Scheduled to begin in April this year, the project will achieve significant water and energy savings through the installation of a new water efficient filtration system, pool covers and new high efficiency condensing boilers.

Deputy Lord Mayor Natasha Malani said the upgrade will ensure the Centre continues to be one of the Stateâ€™s leading community leisure centres, reaffirming Councilâ€™s commitment to build energy efficient sustainable infrastructure for residents and visitors.

Danish Dames making their mark on the World Rankings

Now after the big spring selections for Berlin and Glasgow 2014, we can conclude that the state of Danish swimming is good, at least on the womenâ€™s side. Their 2012 female Olympians all posted at top-8 times, Mie Ã˜. Nielsen bettered the Nordic records in the 50 and 100 back, and Rikke MÃ¸ller Pedersen has 4 of the 8 fastest results ever in the 200 meter breaststroke.

The pool where a little boy took his last swim is now empty, drained just days after the childâ€™s sudden death.

An avid swimmer, 7-year-old Calder Sloan was in the water Sunday afternoon when police say a jolt of electricity coursed through his small body.

They responded to a call Sunday afternoon at 13005 Arch Creek Terrace regarding a possible electrocution.

When officers arrived, they found Fabian Pesantes, 44, giving the child CPR.

â€œI was at my house watching TV when someone came and knocked on my door,â€ Pesantes told CBS4â€²s Lauren Pastrana. â€œI ran overâ€¦ he was blue.â€
