Filmed by my father, Bengt Lagus in the 1960´s, I have edited the material. The water temperature was something between 15-18 degrees Celsius this day and it felt really cold for the children, also the air temperature was below 20 C.. The swimming “school” was in Luvia (Verkkoranta) Finland. I have also in the early 1970´s been at this swimming school and we then still did it the same way as here !

Winter Swimming & Dancing in Lipetsk, Russia
Ice-hole swimming is a traditional Russian fun. Winter swimmers are called “walruses†here. “Lipetsk Walrus Club” exists for over 60 years and since then a lot of people have joined our healthy lifestyle community. Winter swimming is popular not only among seniors but also among young people. Lipetsk ‘walruses’ enjoy the cold water as well as the cold air and go for a swim at any time of the day or night! :)

AS Carlos Tejada, high competition swimming rewarded with 200 medals
Carlos Tejada, a swimmer who has an intellectual disability with a degree of 65%, is considered to be one of the best sportsmen from the province of AlmerÃa. There are no boundaries for him, just hard work. He began to swim when he was 8 years old and started to compete at 12. Throughout all this time, he has won over 200 trophies, some of which are gold medals that he won in international adapted swimming competitions. He is champion of Spain in 1,500 metres freestyle and has participated in 54 championships of Spain. His friendliness, enthusiasm and capacity to overcome himself, have enabled him to gain recognition both in the social and sports spheres.
