• The stars of HBO’s ‘Girls’ are outraged about the six-month sentence given to Stanford University swimmer Brock Turner. Turner, once an Olympic swimming hopeful, was convicted of sexually assaulting a woman. HBO’s ‘Girls’ stars Lena Dunham, Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke and Zosia Mamet came together for a PSA where they praise the victim in the Stanford case and discuss the harsh reality of sexual assault. The four women said “What if we chose to turn towards those in need instead of away? To listen. To support. You have a choice to make things better … And while it’s just the four of us here right now, we hope to represent the solidarity and support all survivors should be able to find.”

Aquatic exercise is one of the oldest methods of fitness and rehabilitation, used for healing purposes as early as 2400 B.C., according to “Hydrotherapy.” Even the most recognized man in the history of medicine, Hippocrates, noted water’s remedial effect on a range of maladies from joint pain to muscle spasms. Though traditional treatments were typically passive, involving sitting in and drinking the water, 20th-century physicians embraced the use of underwater exercise as a more potent form of healing and strength-building. If you’re not sure if aquatic exercise is right for your unique physiology or condition, this article is for you.

  • For the Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty, the thing that he initially feared is what shaped his career. Being around water for 35 hours a week for intense training, he surely seems to have surpassed his fear superbly.

As someone who loves to push himself, he admits that his journey to where he is now has been phenomenally hard and there have been times when he’s thought of quitting. However, with his recent gold win at the European Swimming Championships, he has definitely proven how much his hard work and dedication has paid off.

  • A dozen state lawmakers have signed on to the effort to “investigate and take action against” the judge who handed down a six-month sentence to a man convicted of sexually assaulting an unconscious, intoxicated young woman outside a Stanford fraternity party.

The lawmakers sent letters out Friday morning to the Commission on Judicial Performance in San Francisco as well as Santa Clara County District Attorney Jeff Rosen. The letter to the commission requests a review of Judge Aaron Persky’s performance, stating that the sentencing of 20-year-old Brock Turner “shows bias and undermines public faith in the judicial system.”
