On August 5. 2017 my friend Tabitha and I hiked to Bobby Lake via the Twins Lake and then south on the PCT. Bobby Lake is one of the best swimming lakes in Oregon, yet not very many people know about it because it is a good 1/4 of a mile off the PCT (the beaten path). Unless you know to go there, you wouldn’t stumble on Bobby Lake and think it’s the best lake in Oregon. If you walk to the southern end of the lake, the trail dead ends into a huge rock that goes gradually into the clear waters of the lake and creates a nice sandy bottom. A lot of lakes in Oregon have a mucky and swampy shoreline, which makes them undesirable for swimming. This lake is perfect for camping and swimming from mid-July through early September.
