Michael Phelps and his family are simply the cutest!
The 32-year-old Olympic gold medalist woke up bright and early to join his wife Nicole their son Boomer, 14 months, at a special Huggies Little Swimmers Swim Class with The Phelps Foundation on Monday (August 21) in New York City.
Some of the best memories of my life have been in the water – and none more special than the days I spend swimming with Boomer,†Michael said in statement. “I’m not teaching Boomer to master the butterfly just yet, but #Trainingfor2032 includes safe water play that helps build comfort and confidence in the water. Twelve months on from toppling Phelps, Schooling vows to ‘re-take what is his’
“No one usually stands ahead of Michael on the podium,†Joseph Schooling said, wryly aware of the large dollop of understatement contained within that phrase.
The 22-year-old is looking back at one of the most exciting races of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and the Michael he is talking about is Phelps, the USA’s 23-time Olympic swimming gold medallist. The Olympic Games’ most decorated athlete of all-time was going for his fourth consecutive gold in the men’s 100m butterfly. There was also the small matter of 2013 and 2015 100m butterfly world champion Chad Le Clos and 2015 200m butterfly World Championship gold medallist Laszlo Cseh on the blocks.
“All I remember is walking out. It was an exciting feeling. I was very nervous, everything was at a high, all my senses were at a high,†Schooling recalled.

Ian Thorpe and boyfriend urge Australians to support same-sex marriage
Ian Thorpe and his boyfriend are hoping to get as many Australians as possible to vote in favour of same-sex marriage.
Politicians in Australia’s Senate have repeatedly shot down attempts to hold a referendum on equal marriage. In 2016, the Liberal Party was re-elected with a promise that they would let voters decide on same-sex marriage through a popular vote.
However, the vote was blocked, and the result could have technically been ignored by lawmakers anyway. The government is now going to hold a plebiscite to gauge public opinion on the issue.
Ian Thorpe – a five-time gold medal winning swimmer – has unveiled a new video with his boyfriend, model Ryan Channing, in a bid to get people to update their electoral details so they can show their support for same-sex marriage.

Denied a minute’s silence, Spanish swimmer stands for Barcelona
UPDATE – FINA says in statement on 22 Aug 2017, that they were never informed about the request for a minute’s silence, and that they would ‘obviously immediately consider the minute of silence’
So this happened Saturday morning at the FINA 2017 World Masters Championships in Budapest – Apparently denied a minute’s silence for Thursdays’s terror victims in Barcelona and Cambrils, 71-year old Fernando Ãlvarez decided to not participate in the men’s 200 meter breaststroke preliminaries, and to instead remain standing for a minute on the starting block.
