Three local boys swept the podium at the Boston Sharkfest Swim, but the reason they were there is far more personal than first, second and third.

Four years ago, Michael Ardito dove head first into helping his little sister and that fight hasn’t stopped since.

The Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) has forbidden two British divers Gary Hunt and Blake Aldridge, who have taken part in the competition in Crimea, from entry to Ukraine.

“The entry is forbidden to them over the next five years on September 25. The reason for the ban is inflicting the damage to Ukrainian national interests,” SBU spokesperson Olena Hitlianska told Interfax-Ukraine.

These athletes are known to visit Crimea, where they have participated in the Freerate Cliff Diving World Cup international tournament, which was held in Simeiz on August 25 and have voiced their stance on sanctions. Hunt has won the first place in this competition, while Aldridge has taken the third position.
