Two locals were integral parts of Team USA’s first Olympic medal in artistic swimming in 20 years on Wednesday.

Bellevue’s Audrey Kwon and Issaquah’s Keana Hunter helped the U.S. place second in the overall team artistic swimming competition with a final score of 914.3421. China won the gold medal with a final score of 996.1389.

Glamorous Olympic swimmer Luana Alonso has broken her silence after being accused of creating an “inappropriate atmosphere” within her team.

Team Paraguay officials announced the 20-year-old was instructed to leave the athlete’s village on Sunday.

And after spending the night in a swanky Paris hotel, she is now understood to have returned to the US where she is studying political science.

Paraguay’s statement read: “Alonso is creating an inappropriate atmosphere within Team Paraguay.

“We thank her for proceeding as instructed, as it was of her own free will that she did not spend the night in the Athletes’ Village.”

SunSport understands she was kicked out after sneaking out of the tournament to visit Disneyland Paris.

But other reports suggest that she was continually distracting team-mates who hadn’t competed yet and that she chose to wear several of her own outfits around camp instead of official team uniform.

Alonso failed to qualify from her 100m butterfly heat but missed out on a semi-final spot by just 0.24 seconds.

And having announced her retirement from swimming immediately afterwards, she has now hit back at her own country’s Olympic team.
