Ryan Lochte Suspended by USADA Until July 2019

Lochteâ€™s suspension stems from the usage of an intravenous infusion, which breaks anti-doping rules. While the 12-time Olympic medalist did not receive any banned substances through the IV, athletes are not supposed to receive any sort of IV unless they have been hospitalized or have filed for an exemption.

The incident occurred in May when Lochte posted a photo of himself receiving an IV infusion. which prompted USADA to investigate. Since then, the image has been removed from social media.

TheÂ investigation by USADAÂ discovered that Lochte had â€œreceived an intravenous infusion of permitted substances at an infusion clinic in a volume greater than 100 mL in a 12-hour period without a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE).â€

The mascots for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games were named during a ceremony in the Japanese capital on Sunday.

The Olympic mascot, a blue-checked pointy-eared figure, was named as Miraitowa â€” combining the Japanese words â€˜miraiâ€™, meaning future, and â€˜towaâ€™, which means eternity.

The Paralympic counterpart, who is pink-checked and wears a cape, was named Someity after a variety of cherry blossom called Someiyoshino. Games organisers also said the name sounded similar to â€œso mightyâ€ in English.
