After a career in sports which featured great achievements as well as significant challenges, Michael shares some of his career lessons with the audience. Michael recently ‘transitioned’ out of competitive swimming after 10 years as a professional. He was very privileged to compete and win medals at two Commonwealth Games, European/World Championships and the Olympic Games. Michael‘s competitive career was cut short due to mental ill-health and this is something he has learned to take full responsibility for. Michael is passionate about promoting conversation around psychological health and particularly a personal duty of care in high pressure environments.

The daily routines of some of the world’s most successful people — from Richard Branson to Oprah Winfrey — include a morning workout. And Olympic champion swimmer Michael Phelps is no exception. In fact, the star athlete says exercise helps him be more successful.

“Being able to just get out there and sweat is something that I need,” Phelps tells CNBC Make It. “So I kind of have to make sure I get that little bit of time, whether it’s 20 or 30 minutes, to myself. Just to get ready, to get prepared so I can be a better dad, a better husband, a harder worker.”

Did a beluga whale give away Russia’s secrets? The whale was found swimming in Arctic Norway by a bunch of fisherman. The animal caught their eyes because it seemed to be tied up in something. A closer inspection showed a harness was tightly clipped around its body. The Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries says “Equipment St. Petersburg” was written on the harness and it featured a mount for an action camera. InsideEdition.com’s Mara Montalbano has more.
