A Scottish man has broken the world record for the fastest swim across the Cook Strait by four minutes.

Andy Donaldson swam between New Zealand’s North and South Islands on March 7 in four hours and 33 minutes.

The 31-year-old waited more than three weeks for the right conditions and swam through part of the 23-kilometer route in darkness.
