    The national sea rescue and survival swimming centers have a new and unique approach to combat the dangers facing school children such as drowning. Youth are being given the skills to be confident around bodies of water and are taught to self-rescue if the need arises.

    Just hours after her swim ended in a shark bite off the Del Mar shore, Lyn Jutronich is ready to share her terrifying experience. Jutronich swam competitively in college and swims in the ocean two or three times a week. Friday morning she and her swim partner were resting in the water, before heading back to shore when something slammed into her. Lyn says she immediately knew, without a doubt, she was up against a shark.

Michael Phelps won the men’s 200m butterfly event at Rio 2016 in style, adding another gold to his impressive collection of 28 Olympic medals. His time of 01:53.36 was beaten by Kristóf Milák at Tokyo 2020 who swam to gold in 01:51.25 to set a new Olympic record.

    Many of us hide our struggles below the surface — away from friends, family and even ourselves. Mo Bro Luke Adams wanted to raise awareness about these struggles, so challenged himself to freedive under an iceberg to visualize the invisible battles that many of us hide.

    From some of the coldest water on Earth, with no oxygen tank, mask, or wetsuit, Luke hopes his story will empower men to talk about their mental health, bringing these conversations to the surface.
