Shanghai, jetlagged on 31st floor of the Jin Jiang Oriental
We’re here, after a tough ordeal of travel and transit from Saturday morning to Sunday. The Chinese have been very welcoming and effective, so that I now have my accreditation and everything, ready for action these coming days. Shanghai is hot and humid, but the hotel is nice and cool, the food good and the people pleasant. And the internet works :-)

FINA awards 2015 World Championships to Kazan, 2017 to Guadalajara

13-year-old girl sucked to her death by swimming pool circulation pump
Sarah Eberhardt, 13, from Germany, was on holiday with her father at the resort town of Slatni Pjassazi on the Black Sea in Bulgaria, when she was sucked to her death by a swimming pool’s circulation pump after hotel workers forgot to place a safety grille over it.
‘The pump was so strong that as she swam it had the effect of a whirlpool and pulled her under and sucked her in,’ said a police spokesman. ‘It was a terrible way to die.
