GB swimmer Ross Davenport embraces soaking wet wedding day
Belper-born Ross, 28, has taken part in three Olympic Games – Athens 2004, Beijing 2008 and London 2012 – but has this year decided to retire from competitive swimming. He will instead take on the role of assistant to City of Derby swimming club head coach Mel Marshall.
And, on Saturday, he tied the knot with fiancée Claire Whitfield, at St Mary’s Church, in Melton Mowbray.
“The only thing was the weather but it didn’t change a thing as we knew it could be like this at this time of year. To be honest – having been surrounded by water all my life – it might as well rain on my wedding day.”
