Swimmers Shrug Off Snowy London to Dive in Icy Pond
“Shrugging off snow and temperatures around zero, a group of men gathered on London’s Hampstead Heath at the weekend to dive into an icy swimming pond. This particular group of enthusiasts refer to themselves as the EGLST, an acronym for the East German Ladies Swimming Team, a riff on the testosterone-laden doping scandal that surrounded that team’s gold medal sweep at the 1976 Olympics.
