Danish swim club AGF Svømning yesterday decided to shut down all swim training at Gellerupbadet in Aarhus for at least a fortnight, after two of their instructors were attacked by 20-25 youths in the disadvantaged residential area. They were luckily still in their car, but had its side mirrors kicked off and received kicks to the side of the car also. The club discloses that they have had several bad experiences in the area these past years, with threats, vandalism and stolen bikes and goods. Tyler Clary plans to be a race car driver after Rio
Read Detroit Free Press
Clary said, in fact, he will pursue a full-time motor sports career after Rio, either behind the wheel or as part of a pit crew.
Even with a plate full of swimming and classes, Clary has participated in a number of racing schools around the country and will run in the Toyota Pro/Celebrity race at the IZOD IndyCar Series Toyota Grand Prix weekend, April 19-21 at Long Beach, Calif.
“I’ve always been a racer at heart, in the water and on the track,” said Clary, who tried his hand at off-road desert racing, too, in a Toyota FJ Cruiser he helped build. “I’ve won a gold medal in the pool, and my goal now is to become a champion at some level in motor racing.”
