A new doping scandal has erupted involving Olympic swimmers from China. Chinese authorities and the World Anti-Doping Agency found the drug trimetazidine but cleared the swimmers and did not flag problems to Olympic officials. Several who tested positive went on to win medals, including three gold medals. Jeffrey Brown discussed the latest with Travis Tygart of the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency.

Sky News host Caleb Bond says “surely” there must be an investigation now over the 23 Chinese swimmers testing positive for drugs months before the Tokyo Olympics.

“Surely now there has to be a full and frank investigation,” he said.

“Because you have got a lot riding on whether or not you win those gold and silver medals.

“If these results are overturned from Tokyo, the US would be eligible for gold medals and Australia would be eligible for silver medals.

“You expect if you are going to the Olympics and you are competing fairly that you will be competing on a fair-level playing field with other people and even the World Anti-Doping authority swept it under the car.”
