Cameron returns highly motivated from BCN2013 World Champs
“South Africa’s world acclaimed swimmer Cameron Van Der Burgh believes that he’s regained the hunger and motivation that he was missing after winning a gold and silver medals in the 50m and 100m breaststroke respectively at the FINA World Championships. He was speaking after arriving from Barcelona this morning at the OR Tambo international airport. Van Der Burg who won a gold medal and broke the world record in the London Olympics, says this has been a difficult year for him so far clouded by injuries.” -

Giant Pyrosome caught on video, looks like that thing in ‘The Abyss’
Pyrosomes are pelagic (free-swimming) tunicates or sea squirts that live in the open ocean, as colonies of tiny animals that form hollow tubes sealed at one end. Divers off the Tasman Peninsula caught this giant Pyrostremma spinosum on video in 2011 or earlier (judging by the YouTube video upload date), a colony that can reach 30m in length and looks pretty much like that water tentacle thing or pseudopod in the movie The Abyss. FINA announces that the events of the FINA Swimming World Cup 2013 – Eindhoven (NED) on August 7-8 will be streamed live and free of charge here on FINAtv. Streaming of morning heats will also be available here on zwemsport.tv’s YouTube channel. Start lists and results can be seen here on omegatiming.com.
