In a press release today, FINA reports that no anti-doping rule violation was registered at the 15th FINA World Championships, held from July 19 to August 4, 2013 in Barcelona (ESP), after a total of 820 tests.

Multi-awarded swimmer Kosuke Kitajima shared his thoughts on Tokyo’s bid to host the 2020 Summer Olympics. The 30-year old athlete claims that it’d be a “dream come true†if Tokyo hosts the prestigious sports event following its loss to Rio de Janeiro for the 2016 hosting. Born in Tokyo, Kitajima believes that the public’s support this time will be favourable for the capital’s bid. “Of course I remember what happened last time, but I don’t think that the public had as much interest in the Olympics coming to Tokyo then as they do now,†he said.

Olympic swimming champion Rebecca Adlington has said thieves broke into her home and stole her medals.
The gold medallist from the 2008 games in Beijing said on her Twitter page she was in “absolute pieces”.

Within hours of the theft the medals were discovered, but a car belonging to her partner is still missing.

A woman who lost her arm in a Maui shark attack kept repeating that she was going to die, the California high schoolteacher who jumped into the water to save her said.
“As soon as we stand on the beach, we heard this bloodcurdling scream,†said Rick Moore, 57, of Laguna Niguel, Calif. “We look out and there was blood everywhere in the white water around her.â€
He put on flippers and swam to her, said Moore, who teaches physical education and health at Creekside High School in Irvine, Calif. “About 10 feet from her, I saw her floating on her back, with no arm,†he said. “It was completely severed from her body.â€
The 20-year-old German visitor was snorkeling in 15- to 20-foot-deep water off Palauea Beach in Makena when the shark bit off her arm Wednesday afternoon.
