The YMCA of Dane County’s swim team practice times and pool locations are going back to normal. This comes after Y aquatics staff told parents their swimmers would be shuffled around to deal with overcrowding. The Y made the changes to free up space for other use. Upset by the decision, 120 swimmers left the team, essentially solving the overcrowding issue. But even with the schedules remaining the same, there’s still tension between families who’ve stayed and Y management.
“This isn’t swimming lessons. For our family, if there’s practice, I take them there,” said YMCA swim team mom Sheryl Terry.
Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte and artist Dave Kinsey teamed up to design a limited-edition swim cap for Speedo USA’s Art of the Cap. All proceeds from the cap go toward Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy (PPMD) an organization that’s committed to curing Duchenne, a lethal form of muscular dystrophy. Every cap sold will raise awareness, raise money, and make a difference.

The British Open water swimming star, who won a silver medal in the Beijing Olympics and who battled to fourth place in London 2012, took a step back from swimming in 2013 to recharge and consider her future plans.
However after competing in the ‘King & Queen of the Sea’ challenge in Copacabana, Brazil, where she and team-mate Chad Ho came second, she is even more determined to qualify for 2016.

“It was great to go over to Rio and swim where the Olympics are going to be – it certainly has given me some excitement to get there in 2016. It’s something I have only decided recently, but I am looking towards Rio – Rio is my next target.
