Swim Lessons Could Be a Lifeline for Children With Autism | ABC7

Water is everywhere in Florida and for families with children on the spectrum, that means danger is lurking around every corner.

A recent study shows kids with autism are 160 times more likely to drown than other kids. Experts say swimming lessons can mean the difference between life and death.

The Florida Autism Center told ABC7 that children with autism tend to wander or elope whether under supervision or not, which is a fear for parents because they’re naturally drawn to the water. 

Swim lessons teach kids with autism crucial safety skills, skills they can use for the rest of their life!
