Some people take it easy when they retire. Others, like a group known as the Fantastic Grandmas, swim with venomous sea snakes off the coast of Lemon Bay, New Caledonia. The women collect data and take photos of the fascinating creatures for researchers at the University of Caledonia. The information has led to a much greater understanding of how sea snakes impact the local ecosystem. Up for an underwater adventure? Come along as we swim with the women in search of sea snakes in the South Pacific.

The 2020 Olympics in Tokyo might be postponed, but that’s no excuse for the star athletes that would have been competing to get out of shape. Divers, gymnasts, swimmers, and rugby players have all been showcasing the inventive ways they’re working out white stuck inside their homes during quarantine. Simone Biles, perhaps the greatest gymnast in Olympic history, is practicing on her own home equipment. She also took on a viral challenge and added her own twist.

Better late than never I guess. I participated in this study at UNLV a couple months back. It’s no surprise that swimming in a wetsuit is much faster than without, but the study wanted to find out how much of a difference there was between each scenario. There was also a second part to the study that measured body temperature with and without a wetsuit on. The purpose of this study was to determine how good the body is at regulating its core temperature while swimming at max effort with a wetsuit on. The study is not yet complete and due to the fact that all schools are closed I am not sure when it will pick back up. I was debating whether or not to post this video since there are no finalized results of the study yet, but I thought it may be interesting to see my personal results and the process of being included in a university study.

A resistance cord can double as an entire gym workout if you know how to use it correctly. Your resistance cord can be a simple length of Theraband material or surgical tubing…or a professional set of rubber bands with hand paddles and a door mount.
