A now-former Gwinnett County high school swim coach was arrested earlier this week on two charges of sexual battery against a child under the age of 16.

Gwinnett County Jail records show Anthony Rainge was booked on Tuesday afternoon and released late that evening. He was the swim coach at Meadowcreek High School until he retired on June 24 amid an investigation.

Dozens of allegations first circulated on social media in the days before June 24, and involved Rainge touching students sexually or otherwise making them feel physically uncomfortable, and saying deeply inappropriate things sexually to students. The posts included audio of an alleged conversation between the swim coach and another student.

Allegations from both former and current Meadowcreek students were collected and presented by a former student, and many spoke of how Rainge was seen as a father figure who used that image and his closeness to girls to prey on them.

Arrest warrants which would detail specifics of the charges against Rainge were not released to 11Alive because they involve a minor.

In today’s behind the scenes video, I attempt to take some photographs in a pool without using an underwater housing. Instead, I’m going to be shooting a Nikon D850 DSLR camera inside a 10 gallon fish tank. This will allow me to capture images both underwater and above water at the same time while also showing the water line that separates the two halves of the image.

    Dear all,

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the member countries of the Nordic Swimming Federation have taken the painful decision to cancel or postpone the 2020 Nordic Open Masters Championships, scheduled to be in Tórshavn, the Faroe Islands from 2nd to 4th October this year.

It has not yet been decided whether the 2021 edition will then be in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands, or in Iceland as originally agreed by the Nordic Swimming Federation members.

On behalf of the Faroe Islands Swimming Association, I want to apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause for those already involved with these championships, and for those masters swimmers that were already planning to participate in Tórshavn. Hopefully, we will be able to make up for this in the future.

    Yours sincerely

    Rókur í Jákupsstovu

Coach Kim Kyu-bong and team captain Jang Yun-jung have been handed life bans by the Korea Triathlon Federation (KTF) after team-mate Choi Suk-hyeon took her own life.

Choi reportedly endured years of physical and verbal abuse from the coaching staff at Gyeongju City Hall’s semi-professional team.

The 22-year-old’s death was reported last week and prompted a KTF investigation.
