That moment at the FINA 2009 World Swimming Championships in Rome, Italy, Michael Phelps relieved after having brushed aside boasting Milorad Čavić, with a new World record of 49.82 (Čavić right behind him in 49.95, some of us a bit disappointed as we rooted for him :-P).

Tomorrow 13 October 2012 at 16:00 local time, Sundlaug Kópavogs will be the venue of the 4th annual dual meet between Iceland and the Faroe Islands, in Kópavogur, Iceland. I expect us (the Faroese) to win a few battles, but alas yet again to loose the war :-)

Taking his usual morning stroll along the surf in Pompano Beach, Gino Covacci noticed a strange ball-like object at the high tide line. He kicked it over and found himself staring at the biggest eyeball he had ever seen. Quite fresh also, by the looks of it, and the whole ‘still bleeding’ bit. They are now investigating who the owner can possibly be, I expect he’ll be there soon enough ;-) See video on Orlando Sentinel, via Arbroath

The Rain Room, an exhibition at the Barbican Centre in London, is a room from whose ceiling torrential rain falls. However, a series of 3D cameras are used to track where people in the room are, and it selectively stops the rain such that you effectively walk between the drops. Still noisy though, Read boingboing
