A scene at the Rome 2009 World Swimming Championships. Not sure who they are, but that guy in the pool looks very much like Stefan Nystran (SWE), so I guess it is the men’s 100 freestyle final … maybe Fred Bousquet (FRA) and Cesar Cielo (BRA)? The guy leaving probably Nicolas Oliveira (BFA).

“Do you remember the last time one of your swim lesson students made their parents really proud? Didn’t that give you a great feeling? Well today, I would like to share with you a teaching technique that will give you that feeling again and again. It’s called the “Check for understanding” technique. As seen in today’s YouTube video from the Swim Lessons University TEACH LIKE A PRO dvd, here’s how it works: You simply create a closed-ended question that requires a short response, whether it be your teaching cues or a yes/no type of question. It’s that easy.”

“In a lot of ways, while Butterfly is one of the harder strokes to learn to swim correctly, it is actually the easiest stroke. One of the things that makes swimming butterfly easier is to learn the fundamentals of the stroke- basically, the first half of the stroke. Once you learn this, you’ll be amazed at how easy swimming Butterfly can be!”

Rúni and Petur Heðin assigning Faroese swimmers to what seems to have been 6 relays, before the Køge Open meet in Denmark, back in 2007. The event was a 8×50 mix relay, and it seems our plan was to have every relay swim back, breast, back, fly, breast, crawl, fly & crawl. See result list here.

If you had to walk a mile for a jug of water every day, as millions of people do, it’s unlikely you’d use that precious water to bathe. Young entrepreneur Ludwick Marishane tells the amazing, funny story of how he invented a cheap, clean and convenient solution: DryBathâ„¢, the world’s first bath-substituting lotion.

With concern mounting about the pace of progress for the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro, the IOC warned Brazilian organizers Tuesday that “time is ticking” and they must attack the project “with all vigor” to ensure that the first Olympics in South America are a success. Rio has not finalized its budget for the Olympics as well as the venues for several sports, including rugby, hockey and golf, and the IOC Executive Board is also concerned  about the state of the country’s economy with new figures showing lower than expected growth.
