  • 3-year-old twins drown in swimming pool on Long Island

    Police said 3-year-old twin brothers have died after they were pulled from a backyard swimming pool on Long Island, CBS New York reports.

    First responders arrived at the Melville home around 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday.

    The incident began when the mother woke up and saw her 5-year-old son, but discovered her 3-year-old boys missing.

    The mother looked out the window and saw one of the children floating in the backyard swimming pool. She called 911 and administered CPR.

    The fifth and final session of the swimming competition at the FINA World Championships in Budapest was highlighted by the three titles of USA (Chase Kalisz, Caeleb Dressel and Katie Ledecky) but also with the impressive and significant victories of Mireia Belmonte (ESP) and Etiene Medeiros (BRA).

    At the water polo Hungary beat Greece by 7:5 and Croatia caused a major upset in ending the reign of Serbia as the best team in the world by winning 11:12.

    After 12 “golden” races since Katie Ledecky first participation in 2013, the US star could not make the 13th consecutive success and lost her first event in the Worlds, the 200m free. The winner, Italy’s Federica Pellegrini, definitively became a legend in the pool, after getting her seventh consecutive medal in this event, since 2005!
