Rottnest Channel Swim Abandoned Mid-Race Due to Extreme Weather | Sky News Australia

For the first time in its 34-year history, Perth’s Rottnest Channel Swim has been abandoned mid-race.

Extreme weather disrupted the race.

Nearly 2,000 swimmers were forced out of the water just kilometers from the finish line.

The rough conditions at the Rottnest Swim event made it difficult for emergency services to rescue swimmers.

One woman was airlifted to the Royal Perth Hospital and another man was taken to Fremantle for treatment.
