The Ukrainian swimmer Olga Beresnyeva has been stripped of a seventh-place finish at the London 2012 Olympics after failing a retrospective drugs test.
The 29-year-old has had herรย 10km open water marathonรย event record expunged after an International Olympic Committee (IOC) investigation.
The IOC conducted further analysis of samples collected at London 2012 earlier this year, finding Beresnyeva to have tested positive for banned substance recombinant erythropoietin (rEPO).
รขโฌลThese additional analyses were performed with improved analytical methods in order to detect prohibited substances which could not be identified with the analyses performed at the time,รขโฌย read an IOC statement.
