Swim stars rally for Sjödin to be included on the Swedish Olympic squad

As mentioned on simma.nu/se yesterday, one glaring omission from the Swedish Olympic swim team announced yesterday was Simon Sjödin, Swedish record holder in the 200 IM and finalist from Debrecen 2012 with a best effort there of 1:59.44 (FINA A cut being 2:00.17). Now someone has started an online petition here, already attracting big names like already selected Swedish swimmers Jennie Johansson, Therese Svendsen and Sarah Sjöström, and outside of Sweden Dorothea Brandt (GER) and Femke Heemskerk (NED).

“We, the signees, petition to have Swimmer, Simon Sjodin (26) holder of the Swedish Record in 200m individual medley, selected for the Olympic Games in London 2012. Based on the criteria that he has met the Olympic A Standard on numerous occasions and is satisfactorily ranked to enable him the right to represent Sweden in the 200m Individual Medley. The time Simon achieved at European Championships in Debrecen would have taken him to the final at worlds 2011.”
