North County Swim Coach Arrested for Sexual Assault | ABC 10 News
The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday that 19-year-old Nicholas Piazza was arrested last week and booked into Vista Detention Facility on charges that included performing lewd acts with a child under 14, committing felony while on bail and contempt of court.
Piazza was arrested Sept. 29, after a boy’s mother reached out to Child Welfare Services the day before, according to a news release issued by the sheriff’s department. She said her 7-year-old son told her that his swim instructor, Piazza, had sexually assaulted him on two separate occasions during private swim lessons, which took place between Sept. 7-25 in Rancho Santa Fe.
Piazza was employed as an independent swim instructor at the time of his arrest, according to Sgt. Howard Kluge of the San Diego Sheriff’s Office.

Brave Son Swims Through Flood to Save Elderly Mom | Inside Edition
An 84-year-old Florida woman in a wheelchair was up to her neck in flooding caused by Hurricane Ian. Her belongings were floating around her. Her son, 49-year-old Johnny Lauder, swam half a mile through a flooded Naples neighborhood to reach her. Johnny and his son Xavier found the family matriarch inside her water-logged house, alive but terrified. They had to push Karen Lauder in her wheelchair through the water to get her to a hospital.

‘I Wanted to Test Myself’: Singaporean Swimmer Makes History Crossing English Channel | South China Morning Post
Hong Kong-based swimmer and Splash volunteer Li Ling Yung-Hryniewiecki became the first Singaporean woman to swim 34km (21 miles) across the English Channel in September 2022, completing the swim in just under 13 hours. In the process, she raised funds for the expansion into Singapore of Hong Kong charity Splash, which gives free swimming lessons to domestic helpers. She spoke with Post reporter Alkira Reinfrank about achieving her dream of completing the swim.
