One Swimmer, 1,367 Kilometres and a Mission To Revive Our Ocean | Jono Ridler | TEDxWaihī Beach

For 90 days and 1.4 million strokes, Jono Ridler swam the entire East Coast of New Zealand’s North Island – through sharks, storms and biting cold. His message is simple: the ocean sustains us, and it can recover if we give it space. The way to face a problem too big to grasp is to break it down and start now – one stroke at a time. ono Ridler is an endurance swimmer, ocean advocate, and founder of the Swim4TheOcean initiative. Through ambitious endurance challenges, he uses sport as a platform to spark conversations about the health of our oceans. His latest achievement is a staged, unassisted 1,000-mile swim down the east coast of New Zealand’s North Island—one of the longest staged swims ever attempted. ?
