“This scene was described in the NYTimes article “Catching a Champion Swimmer on Film” by Karen Crouse goo.gl/P2P72

At the end of a long day shooting The 2012 Colorado High School State Championships in Fort Collins, Colorado, I was putting away gear in a small room off the pool deck when my partner Grant came came in. He was flushed with emotion and shaking his head. He couldn’t speak. Grant had lingered with Missy to watch her sign autographs and do a small press conference on the pool deck, then followed her back to the locker room.

When he finally did speak, he told me of the scene he had managed to grab. This scene is edited from that footage. Thanks to John Kuhrt of KUSA for his additional footage.

After having been undecided since the Olympics, Jeanette Ottesen Gray yesterday announced her determination to soldier on until Rio 2016, while trying to take it easy and enjoy her swimming also. Shannon Rollason is apparently already a success as National Training Center head coach in Copenhagen, as Jeanette here on dr.dk gives him the credit for getting her back on track.

    – I met him (Shannon Rollason) after coming home from Miami, that is, in early March. He has made me realize that it is still a sport, it is not my life. I just need to feel good, take it easy and enjoy my sport, says Jeanette Ottesen.

The first major signs that Zhang’s career was on a downward path emerged at last year’s national trials, where the Beijing Olympic silver medalist in the 400 free failed to earn a ticket to London after finishing the 200m and 400m free events far off the qualifying standards.

“It felt like the sky had fallen apart and I suddenly lost the goal and motivation in my life,” said Zhang, who took a break from the pool after the Olympics. […]

Keen to rediscover his form, Zhang left Beijing for California last October to practice with renowned US coach Dave Salo, the man behind the success of US Olympic champions Jessica Hardy and Rebecca Soni, for three months. […]

Although he did little of consequence in the pool, the US trip inspired him to be more mature when facing adversity. […]

He went to the market, cooked for himself and even ate microwave dumplings to save money for a physio as he received limited funds from the sport’s governing body after failing to achieve elite results in recent years.

“The boundaries dividing sport and art are blurred in this collaboration between Red Bull and Snap! Orlando. Mike Dowdy, Adam Errington, and Dallas Friday strap lights to their wakeboards and join with light painter, Patrick Rochon, in an effort to capture the inherent emotion and creativity of athleticism.”
