The U.S. Coast Guard said on Tuesday it suspended the active search for a New Jersey man who was reportedly swept out to sea while swimming off a beach in Hawaii over the weekend.

A witness reported Matthew Preziose was apparently in distress about 200 yards from the shore with another swimmer off Lumaha’i Beach, near the Lumaha’i River, in Kauai County around 1 p.m. Saturday, authorities said. The other swimmer made it to shore while Preziose remains missing.
