“I had the most amazing/crazy proposal on the 21st! I was surprised by a song written by my fiancé. He sang it atop a rock surrounded by the ocean waters at Laguna beach. As soon as he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him, a HUGE wave completely engulfed us and washed us up to shore. Soaking wet, I quickly jumped up and said YES!”

As the 100m freestyle world champion prepares to return to the pool following admissions of Stilnox use and childish behaviour, The Sunday Telegraph can reveal that Magnussen turned to the Bulldogs to help rekindle his career.

Magnussen contacted the Bulldogs two months after his failed Olympic campaign, with Hasler telling him he needed to adjust his attitude.

Hasler suggested Magnussen should work with John Novak, the mind coach employed by the club.

“One of the biggest things to come out of this was there was no one to help him over there. There were no sports psychiatrists and he had limited support.”

“Anthony Nesty was brought up in a country whose population was a little over 350,000 and boasted just one 50-metre swimming pool. The lack of facilities and competition forced him to relocate to the United States where he trained at the University of Florida.”
