Thrilled swimmers splashed down in the baths’ iconic gala pool on Sunday to mark a major milestone in the Grade II-listed building’s continuing multi-million pound restoration. Some took to the water in fun-filled Victorian swimming dress. Others splashed around with inflatables to celebrate the occasion. The one-off event, the first time swimmers have taken to the pool in 24 years, came after members of the public were offered the chance to buy tickets to take part. London 2012 bronze medallist Ryo Tateishi has announced his retirement from competitive swimming after competing at the Japanese National Championships.
