Gentofte Svømmeklub announces today that Chris DeSantis will be their new head coach starting 1 August 2013, now with their current head coach Stefan Hansen moving on to become assistant head coach at the National Training Center. DeSantis is well known also as blogger for instance at The Swim Brief.
‘Chris will get to use his Master of Science in positive psychology, a science dealing with the “appreciative approach” that the club wants to build on. Chris has previously been an assistant coach at Georgia Institute of Technology, where he worked for 4 years with quality swimmers from around the world. His experience in cultural development from Georgia will also come into play in Gentofte next season. Chris has coached swimmers who have qualified for the World Championships, European Championships, World University Games and the NCAA Division 1 Championship. Since he arrived in Denmark in April, he has worked with Sigma 2, which consists of junior and age-group swimmers. Because of this, he has gained a good knowledge of Danish swimming.’
