London 2012 day 4 prelims: Aussie arsenal firing again

On this fourth day of London 2012 Olympic swimming preliminaries, James “the Missile” Magnussen found form again, placing 4th and 48.38 in the men’s 100 freestyle with USA swimmer Nathan Adrian fastest in 48.19, South Africa’s Gideon Louw in 48.28 and the Netherlands Sebastiaan Verschuren 3rd in 48.37, James “The Rocket” Roberts also qualifying for the semis in 48.93 and 12th, notable omission Italy’s Filippo Magnini in 49.18 and 19th. Kathleen Hersey of USA was fastest in the women’s 200 butterfly, China’s Liuyang Jiao second in 2:07.15 and Great Britain’s Jemma Lowe third in 2:07.64. Dani Gyurta of Hungary was fastest in the men’s 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:08.98, the British duo Michael Jamieson and Andrew Willis following in 2:08.98 and 2:09.33. And in the men’s 4×200 prelims, USA cruised to an impressive 7:06.75 lead ahead of France in 7:09.18 and Germany in 7:09.23.
