    James “The Missile” Magnussen rockets to a 47.10 in the 100 free

    On the 5th day of Australian Trials, James Magnussen scorched the men’s 100 meter freestyle final with a 47.10, obviously qualifying for the Olympics ahead of also qualifying James Roberts in 47.63, with Matt Targett (48.32), Eamon Sullivan (48.53), Cameron McEvoy (48.58) and Tommaso D’Orsogna (48.64) also qualifying for the London 4×100 relay. Magnussen’s time is 0:39 seconds faster than his former world’s best ever in textile, and only 0.19 from Cielo’s supersuited world record. In the men’s 200 breaststroke, Brenton Rickard qualified with a time of 2:11.03, ahead of also qualifying Jeremy Meyer in 2:12.76, and in the 200 butterfly, Jessicah Schipper and Samantha Hamill qualified in 2:06.93 and 2:08.92 respectively.
