    Breaking news – Today on a single breath of air, Stig Severinsen sets a new official Guinness World Record by swimming 250 feet (76.2m) below the ice in a frozen lake in East Greenland. The previous Guinness World Record for the same stunt was 236 feet (set by Stig March 2010).

  • Grandview swim team ex-officials plead guilty to theft

    The former president of a Grandview youth swim program and his wife, accused of embezzling from the team, pleaded guilty Monday in Yakima County Superior Court.

    Paul and Yvonne Renee VanPelt were charged in December with first-degree theft after Grandview investigators accused them of using more than $8,000 of Grandview Neptunes swim team funds for personal purchases at places such as Wal-Mart, Hotels.com and Victoria’s Secret.

    Yvonne Renee VanPelt, 41, pleaded guilty to second-degree theft, a Class C felony, and was sentenced to 10 days of electronic home monitoring, also known as home detention.

    Paul VanPelt, 36, pleaded guilty to third-degree theft, a gross misdemeanor. He, too, was sentenced to 10 days of electronic home monitoring.

  • FINA and European Broadcasting Union extend partnership until 2017

    FINAlogoFINA and the European Broadcasting Union today announced the extension of their partnership for the distribution of the European media rights until 2017, including the 2015 and 2017 FINA World Championships as well as the 2014 and 1016 FINA World Swimming Championships (25M). The EBU will be the Host Broadcaster for the 2015 FINA World Championships in Kazan (RUS). See fina.org
