  • Waterproof your iPhone by spraying NeverWetâ„¢ on it ?

NeverWetâ„¢ is a patent-pending, silicon-based superhydrophobic spray-on coating or paint by Ross Nanotechnology that deflects nearly all liquids, heavy oils, ice, corrosion, bacteria etc so extremely much better than for instance Teflon, that NeverWet-infused materials “have remained under seawater for over a year and reemerged completely dry.” It will apparently make anything waterproof that you…

  • Capturing surf tricks in bullet time with 30 GoPros

Timeslice Films and Rip Curl are at it again, freezing surf tricks in Matrix-style “bullet time”, now using an array of 30 GoPro cameras. Via PetaPixel. They’ve done it before, then using 52 Canon Rebel DSLR’s. But with the GoPros, the solution is waterproof :-)

In a yellow submarine for two

Upon the success of the single seat AS1 model, American company Aqua Star has created a two person underwater scooter, the AS2, allowing couples to share the underwater experience together. Both riders are free to dismount, swim around and climb back aboard, sharing air from scuba tanks in the diving helmet. Maybe an idea for…

  • Forerunner® 910XT: Swim metrics (video)

This is so sweet, and I’m sure gonna upgrade my 4½-year-old Forerunner® 305 runner’s watch with this one, when I get a chance. Via the17thman Don’t know how yet how good it is at counting the strokes and yardage, but here is someone reviewing the competing FINIS Swimsense Performance Monitor.

  • EyeSwim, a personal video system for people who swim

Interesting concept, and thankfully both cheap and simple, see www.eyeswim.com. Now, personally I’ve always wanted a simple instant and automatic video replay system with slow-motion like what we sometimes see on fun rides. For start practices and stuff, preferably in a plug-in-and-go package, please go invent that ! :-)

  • How to photograph a fist smashing through water

High-speed photography tutorial with splashes and flashes, courtesy of Photo EXTREMIST, via Peta Pixel. “Just remember that it is the flashes that are freezing the motion, not the camera.”

  • Video proof: Evolta did swim the official Ironman route

Exciting stuff in American/Japanese, still think it would have gotten into problems if there was a decent current against it. Was that a whale jumping at the turn buoy? The robots completed the full Ironman challenge 2011 in only 166 hours 57 minutes, with the 2.4-miles (3.86 km) swim taking a little over 5 hours.
