The Powerskin Carbon Pro, Arena’s latest swimsuit featuring breakthrough “intelligent compression” technology will make its first appearance in a major competitive meet at the venue for this summer’s Olympic Games, the London Aquatics Centre. They have British swimmers Francesca Halsall and Hannah Miley on board at that meet, as well as Milorad ÄŒavić from Serbia, Denmarks’ Lotte Friis, Sweden’s Sarah Sjöström, Germany’s Paul Biedermann and Ireland’s Grainne Murphy. Also (not attending this meet) Norway’s Alexander Dale Oen, South Africa’s Cameron van der Burgh, USA’s Eric Shanteau and Rebecca Soni, the Netherlands’ Ranomi Kromowidjojo and Brazil’s César Cielo. The swim pool in Vágur, Suðuroy, Faroe Islands ready for the “SUM 2008” Faroese youth championships. This is the 25 meter pool that Pál Joensen has been training in since childhood, in his home town of Vágur. A bit shallow in the far end and often hot and humid when full with people. Posted now because I need this photo for a meet invite on my Faroese spoken site :-)

Everyone was washing their pots and pans, looking at us as if we were crazy. “Then Ben Titley, our coach, got his car out and got us pushing it up the hill. Australian head coach Leigh Nugent says there were mitigation factors to Ian Thorpe’s 52.28 and 4th in the Zurich International 100 meters freestyle last week, and that his 3:59.28 in the 400 meter was just a cruise.
