At the U.S. Olympic Trials yesterday evening, Michael Phelps beat Ryan Lochte in the men’s 200 freestyle with 5 hundredths of a second, both of course qualifying for the Olympics. In the women’s 100 backstroke, Missy Franklin posted a world textile best with Rachel Bootsma also qualifying and Natalie Coughlin just missing out. In the men’s 100 backstroke, Matt Grevers posted a scorching 52.08, world textile best and second best ever, with Nick Thoman also qualifying. And in the women’s 100 breaststroke, Breeja Larson upset favorites Rebecca Soni and Jessica Hardy, Larson and Soni qualifying for the Olympics. See all…
