At the U.S. Olympic Trials yesterday evening, Michael Phelps beat Ryan Lochte in the men’s 200 freestyle with 5 hundredths of a second, both of course qualifying for the Olympics. In the women’s 100 backstroke, Missy Franklin posted a world textile best with Rachel Bootsma also qualifying and Natalie Coughlin just missing out. In the men’s 100 backstroke, Matt Grevers posted a scorching 52.08, world textile best and second best ever, with Nick Thoman also qualifying.
