In 2019, Elaine Howley spent 54 hours on a boat in the English Channel while Sarah Thomas became the first person in history to swim it four consecutive times without stopping. Elaine managed the crew rotations, safety swam in the dark at each turn, wrote and distributed the press release that set off a global media storm — and told Sarah, in the middle of the night at the seawall above Spire Hoe, that they don’t make decisions in the dark.
That is one story from one swim. Elaine Howley has been doing this for decades.
