Sometimes the elephant may have tried to cross the reservoir. Although elephants are good swimmers and regularly cross the rivers without any problem, the water currents may have been the stumbling block due to heavy rain over the last week. The elephant got swept with water currents. He doesn’t know that where he was carried. The elephant was sweeping towards the deep end of the reservoir. If it was drifted with water currents his life would have ended by drowning in the reservoir. The wildlife officers foresee the risk and are determined to help the elephant. The staff got together into two teams. One team was preparing a strong rope loop to pull the elephant ashore. But pulling an elephant of nearly 5000kg of weight against the violent currents is not that easy task.
